Great article but I disagree with 'avoiding fiber-rich foods' even if your gut is severely compromised. Here's why:

I did a bio-hack where I was having severe digestion issues (bloating, discomfort, gassy, etc.) I went to Hippocrates Health Institute in FL and did 100% raw veggies for 3 weeks. First week - uggh! looked pregnant, felt terrible...2nd week miracles began with more energy, less bloat, loss of excess unwanted fat...3rd week - WOW...like a new person (improved energy, vision, brain function, sleep and yes, digestion was perfect!

My nutrition guru says the same - rather than immediately give up eating a certain raw food because 'it doesn't agree with you' - you'll want to 'push through' the discomfort as the microbiome shifts from toxic to balanced and healthy.

....too many make the mistake of limiting their raw carbs relegating themselves to cooked veggies and only certain fruits...if you stay on that path, you may slowly lose all the building blocks you get from food to maintain a healthy body. I know someone who kept limiting her food and I believe it helped lead to her early death - even with an otherwise super healthy lifestyle.
