The Healthy Gut is the Foundation, perhaps even the long sought Fountain of Youth. A Healthy Gut allows the proper balance of microbes to be able to convert the many foods long recognized as Healthy to create the nutrients to feed the Mitochondria for them to feed us the energy/health we need/seek. With decades of so many offenders causing damage to our gut, causing a Leaky Gut, until we heal the gut, even Healthy Foods consumed can fall short.

Yes it is confusing as all Carbs are considered sugar, but all types of sugars are not equal to feed our bodies and even the right Carbs/Sugars does not mean we can sit down with a spoon and shovel down pounds of sweets or even healthy Carb Foods.

There is still a need to balance between the protein, fats and carbs within a certain proportion/percentage range for each food group.

Mitochondria are especially abundant in the organs and tissues of the body with the highest energy requirements. Supplements and lifestyle changes can improve mitochondrial health by increasing the availability of proteins necessary for ATP production (activation of AMPK, PCG-1a, NAD+, SIRT1). They also act as antioxidants, helping mitochondria reduce oxidative stress and perform other important functions, including signaling, differentiation, programmed cell death, and cell growth control. Related to Dr. Mercola's reports, additional support for mitochondrial function includes acetyl-L-carnitine, CoQ10, pyrroloquinoline quinone, vitamin C, choline, NADH, α-lipoic acid, α-ketoglutaric acid, resveratrol, N-acetylcysteine, magnesium, and a quality multivitamin and mineral complex.
