An excellent report. Chronic Mg deficiency is frequently present in older adults. Chronic low-grade inflammation (inflammation) is frequently present in numerous age-related chronic diseases and the aging process itself. Numerous human diseases have been associated with Mg deficiencies, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, depression, muscle diseases, bone fragility, and cancer. Evidence of magnesium's relationship with all the hallmarks of aging (genomic instability, telomere attrition, epigenetic alterations, loss of proteostasis, dysregulated nutrient sensing, mitochondrial dysfunction, cellular senescence, stem cell exhaustion, altered intercellular communication, impaired autophagy, dysbiosis, and chronic inflammation), which can positively affect human longevity.
Mg is crucial for preserving genomic stability in cellular systems due to its stabilizing effects on DNA and chromatin structures. Therefore, Mg ion is required in nucleotide excision repair, base excision repair and mismatch repair, and is crucial for the removal of DNA damage caused by endogenous processes, environmental mutagens and DNA replication. Mg deficiency triggers the vulnerability of cells to oxidation and may affect the performance of the immune system; a lack of Mg would alter the integrity and functionality of the membrane and may facilitate mitochondrial alterations (decreased number, morphology modifications, increased apoptosis, increased DNA mutations, decreased biogenesis, decreased autophagy). Mg has an important role in modulating protein synthesis and membrane repair . DNA is incessantly altered by endogenous processes and environmental mutagens. An increase in cellular Mg has been demonstrated in the early stages of apoptosis, possibly linked to a mobilization of Mg from the mitochondria; Mg can act as a "second messenger" for downstream events in apoptosis.
Due to Mg's essential role in stabilizing DNA, defending cells against ROS damage, and stimulating DNA replication and transcription, a Mg deficiency can facilitate genomic instability, impair DNA repair, and reduce mitochondrial functionality, thus facilitating accelerated cellular senescence and aging. Mg has a proven protective role against these effects and contrasts with telomere shortening. It has been suggested that due to this action in preventing telomere shortening, correcting Mg deficiencies may prolong lifespan.
Low Mg levels may restrict and promote tumorigenesis, as inhibition of tumor growth at the primary site is observed in the face of increased metastatic colonization. Magnesium (Mg) deficiency is associated with increased risk and malignancy in colorectal cancer. Intestinal Mg absorption tends to decline with age, and this decline may be one of the possible causes of Mg deficiency with aging. Impaired intestinal Mg absorption in old age is often exacerbated by the deterioration of vitamin D homeostasis common in older adults.
Secondary Mg deficiencies in older adults may be related to the presence of several medical conditions and multiple drug therapies. Diuretic-induced hypomagnesemia is often accompanied by hypokalemia (potassium deficiency). Other medications commonly used in the elderly may contribute to Mg deficiencies (e.g., antacids, H2 blockers, proton pump inhibitors, antihistamines, antibiotics, antiepileptic drugs, and antivirals, among others).

Magnesium and Zinc are two things if I don't keep up on, seems to cause trouble. And, Just Me, but, it really seems like this Summer's Sun is kicking the said positive impacts of Mag into high gear.
