If heel striking were the proper way to walk we have a "post" - just the heel to walk on. There is a reason for all the little joints in the toes and for our arch. Basically they sound like a series of shock absorbers to dampen the force as it travels up and through our knees, hips, spine. Probably affect the neck too. Reminded of a previous article on how what may have been a small offense to the foot, knee/s, hip/s, even a loss of a tooth can travel through out the body irritate other body joints and affect our sense of balance.

For those who like to hike in the wilderness, pushing off from the foot makes for quiet movement and increases the sightings of the many creatures we share this world with.
