I have been dependent on benzos for probably about eight years. I very much dislike that fact but the truth is that they calmed the stress chemistry that pyrolles disorder creates in the gut biome which minimizes the production of serotonin and many vitamins and minerals.

One of the consequences for me of using benzos was that I was able to meditate, once again with great depth, and have continued on that path inspite of the residue in the morning and late evening in my blood. At 75 years old I have twice tried to remove myself from benzos but after 8 days on the first try, my joints were hurting and that gums were bleeding and I was getting weaker. The second time was for 10 days with similar results. The third time was working with a sleep specialist who was a psychiatrist who tried out about five different alternatives, none of which were even slightly satisfactory.

What I and my doctor have come to realize is that sleep is the most important element in my entire regime. When I get enough sleep I get stronger and I can build muscle and general health. Without good sleep I don't function very well and then wiped out to varying degrees on that day. Benzo's is only way to achieve some regularity of sleep in the face of chronic insomnia.

What pisses me off is that you sound and act like a religious fundamentalist, producing a huge article and not acknowledging the fact that certain people do much better on benzos than on anything else, and if I was prevented from using them I would not know how to get enough sleep, I would get weaker and at 75 years old that doesn't look like a good picture to me. And yes I have a doctor who is well schooled in all the alternative medical regimes.

For these reasons I can't even live in my home country anymore of the USA (if I wished) because of the kind of regulations which you recommend (only one week prescription allowable, and that requires a psychiatrist or psychiatric aid, when last I visited five years ago).

Do me a favor and get off of your high horse and take a look around yourself before you start making "angular" arguments like you just did.
