Small problem with this concept.

The way writing is taught and practiced in schools is a Big problem.

When my son was about 5 or 6, I watched him practice writing letters for hours as homework. This was not productive. He was board and he should have been drawing. He also shouldn't have had any homework at that age.

I would fully support more writing (especially creative writing) at the ages of about 7 or older. This would be more in line with stages in development.

As a general rule, students do not learn when they are bored, or doing something they hate to do.

Hi Dr. Mercola, this is a great! Just the other day I was recalling that I taught my child calligraphy at about age 10. I attribute this to her improved printing - she has ADHD. I love calligraphy but now at age 74 my wrist has cramps.
