DMSO treats eye conditions from floaters to cataracts, reduces glaucoma pressure, improves vision focus, and can restore sight naturally without surgery.
Great information. I've bought a book on DMSO and I'm reviewing the full article in A Midwestern Doctor on eye health, including the cited references.
Dr. Mercola has reported on plants and eye health. Considering the increasing prevalence of eye diseases and the demand for effective, natural, and safe treatments, plant extracts represent a promising solution that can be used for both prevention and treatment of eye conditions.
In this review, natural plant extracts present an intriguing alternative or complement to conventional treatments, as they have the ability to act both prophylactically and therapeutically, thus promoting eye health. Lutein and zeaxanthin, compounds present in leafy vegetables and fruits, accumulate in the retina and filter harmful blue light, thereby reducing the risk of macular degeneration. Anthocyanins, found in blueberries and aronia berries, have been shown to improve the elasticity of blood vessels in the eye, which may contribute to the management of diabetic retinopathy and night vision impairment. Polyphenols, present in green tea and red wine, act as potent antioxidants, protecting retinal cells from degeneration and free radical damage.
In addition to their role in eye health, natural substances have been shown to support nervous system function, a crucial aspect in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as glaucoma and optic neuropathy. Saffron, a spice derived from saffron, has demonstrated neuroprotective properties and may contribute to the treatment of macular degeneration by improving the retina's sensitivity to light stimuli. Amla, a rich source of vitamin C, has been shown to strengthen blood vessels in the eye and reduce the risk of retinal hemorrhages. Nigella seed oil has also shown protective effects against optic nerve damage related to oxidative stress.
This review analyzes saffron, tea tree oil, turmeric, ginger, Ginkgo biloba, quercetin, aloe vera, carrot, and many others.
Table 1 summarizes natural plant-derived compounds with potential benefits for eye health.
This review also evaluates the anti-cataractogenic effect of curcumin for cataracts. Seventeen preclinical studies found that curcumin could potentially prevent and treat cataracts. Curcumin improved antioxidant defenses and decreased oxidative stress. Optimizing the oral absorption of curcumin will be critical for its therapeutic effect. Some previous research has revealed that curcumin is a very promising natural polypharmaceutical agent. It influences various factors, including antioxidants, pro-inflammatory cytokines, chromosome-regulating enzymes, apoptosis-related proteins, cell cycle regulators, growth factors, and components of cell signaling, among others.
This review aims to provide an overview of the potential therapeutic effects of green tea (GT) in eye diseases (Fig. 1). It will summarize current knowledge on GT's bioactive compounds, preclinical and clinical evidence of its therapeutic potential, and the mechanisms of action involved. This review will provide a comprehensive understanding of GT's potential benefits in the treatment of eye diseases and contribute to the development of new treatment options.
GT and its components have demonstrated promising therapeutic effects in various eye diseases. The plant's bioactive components, such as catechins, flavonoids, and alkaloids, have shown potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-VEGF activities. Furthermore, GTEs have been shown to improve ocular surface diseases, such as dry eye, allergies, and infections, as well as diseases of the retina and optic nerve. GT has also shown aldose reductase inhibitory activity, which could be beneficial in the treatment of cataracts.
The results of this study suggest that carvacrol administration, due to its potent antioxidant and anti-apoptotic properties, could attenuate selenite-induced cataractogenesis through multiple mechanisms involved in cataract development. Thymol and carvacrol are phenolic compounds present in the essential oils of medicinal plants, such as thyme, savory, and oregano.
Gui isn't Bilberry also considered excellent for the eyes too, can help night vision, eye health? Seem to remember blueberry also a good source for eye health.
Despicable to realize how many decades of unnecessary suffering people have gone through for Preventable - Dis-Ease. Then to realize how much has been added to this suffering by denying a product with such massive positives across the board, and possibly having more to be discovered - yet, suppressed. Big reasons why we don't have a Healthcare System, we have a symptom management system and a distraction system for it all centered around how it is paid for. Health Insurance is not Healthcare - how insurance is structured to pay for it affects us dramatically, but currently too many find themselves denied no matter what the source. Private or Public.
Because of the amazing information that Dr. Mercola has shared, I have been using this on my feet to help with neuropathy. I rub it into my feet and calves and then put on clean socks. I have really noticed that the swelling in my ankles has decreased to almost zero. I have floaters in my eyes and I would like to use drops, but I had cataract surgery and don't know if the DMSO would effect the new lenses they put in?? I am so frustrated because I bought several books on the subject . but no one really gives dosages. Maybe Dr. Mercola could discuss dosages? Thank-you so much. P.S. I am going to try this on my dog who has cataracts/diabetes. He is totally blind. Again, thanks for the information. sincerely, Julia Rueger :0)
I have been reading A Midwestern Doctor’s posts regarding DMSO on Substack. There is not a one-size fits all answer as to whether DMSO effects lenses implanted during cataract removal surgery, as they are made from diverse substances, and at least one manufacturer did not reply to AMD’s query.
Unfortunately I forgot to mention that Dr Amelia White pulled her book off from Amazon after I bought my copy maybe because others were copying the title of her book and publishing it on Amazon. I have read six or 7 DMSO books and none compare to Dr Whites DMSO BOOK . You might find it on Ebay or specialty book stores. I bought a copy Stanley Jacob MD book entitled ;Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) in Trauma and Disease. I paid $78.00 for this book but you need a medical dictionary to understand most of it. Stanley Jacob is famous for being the first doctor to define how DMSO works in very much detail. More detail than most people want or need.
The DMSO book by Amandha Vollmer is a pretty good book with some recipes. it is available on Amazon
I suffer greatly from Tennitis. Dr. Mercola included this condition as treatable with DMSO. But I’ve never seen where available and in drop form for the ears. Anyone?

Would love a source for a clean, trusted source for DMSO

it’s fine to tell us dmso is great for the eye health, but how about telling us how to get the compound safely?
True my Retina Specialist sure isn’t recommending DMSO
